Delegate Intro

The Vanderbilt Blockchain Club is a student-led organization at Vanderbilt University, dedicated to advancing blockchain education, innovation, and participation in decentralized ecosystems. We launched our governance program in 2025 to empower our members to actively contribute to the future of blockchain protocols like Origin. Our club is composed of passionate students with diverse backgrounds in technology, finance, and governance, and we are committed to fostering a deeper understanding of Web3 among our peers.

In addition to our work with Origin Protocol, we are currently in negotiations to participate in governance for Morpho, Optimism (as part of the a16z governance program), and Celo. These efforts reflect our growing commitment to decentralized governance and our desire to make meaningful contributions to the blockchain space. Our members bring technical expertise, research skills, and a collaborative spirit to every protocol we engage with, and we’re excited to bring these strengths to Origin.

Do you have any core values you stick to when voting?

When voting on governance proposals, the Vanderbilt Blockchain Club adheres to a set of core values that guide our decision-making process:

  • Community Benefit: We prioritize proposals that enhance the Origin ecosystem for its users, token holders, and broader community.
  • Transparency and Accountability: We value clear communication and responsible governance, ensuring our votes align with the long-term health of the protocol.
  • Innovation and Security: We support initiatives that drive technical advancement while maintaining a strong focus on risk management and ecosystem stability.
  • Inclusivity: We aim to represent the diverse perspectives of our club members and the wider Origin community in our voting decisions.

Our governance team meets weekly to review proposals, discuss their implications, and reach a consensus. Each protocol we engage with has dedicated members who specialize in its governance, ensuring informed and thoughtful participation. After internal discussions and a voting process within the club, we cast our vote on behalf of the delegated tokens.

Disclosure/Possible Conflicts of Interest

The Vanderbilt Blockchain Club is currently in negotiations to serve as delegates for Morpho, Optimism (via the a16z governance program), and Celo, in addition to our participation with Origin Protocol. We do not foresee any immediate conflicts of interest, as our focus remains on supporting the growth and integrity of each protocol we engage with.

We hold no significant investments or commitments that would bias our objectivity in voting for Origin. Should any potential conflicts arise in the future—such as new delegate roles or personal investments by club members—we will make appropriate disclosures and recuse ourselves from voting when necessary to maintain fairness and transparency.

Delegation Statement/Closing Thoughts

We are thrilled to launch the governance arm of the Vanderbilt Blockchain Club in 2025, driven by overwhelming interest from our members and a shared passion for shaping the future of decentralized systems. Participating in Origin Protocol’s governance is an exciting opportunity for us to contribute to a vibrant ecosystem while providing hands-on experience for our students. We’re happy to be part of this journey and look forward to collaborating with the Origin community to drive impactful decisions.
