Proposal: Wind Down Origin Sonic and OS ARM

Summary

This proposal recommends an orderly wind-down of Origin’s Sonic products:

  • Origin Sonic (OS)
  • OS ARM (ARM-WS-OS)

If approved, Origin will stop active operations on Sonic, unwind OS and OS ARM positions, unstake the underlying S, and make assets available for users to exit.

Motivation

Origin Sonic no longer clears Origin’s business, liquidity, revenue, risk, and operational-maintenance thresholds.

Maintaining OS and OS ARM requires ongoing work across validators, redemptions, liquidity, integrations, monitoring, frontend support, partner coordination, and user communications. Given current revenue attributed to Origin’s products on Sonic, this is no longer justified.

Proposal

Governance approves the following:

  1. Stop new Sonic activity
    1. No new Sonic integrations
    2. No new protocol-owned liquidity or growth campaigns
    3. No new business development around OS or OS ARM
  2. Wind down OS
    1. Begin unstaking the S backing OS
    2. Keep redemption/claim paths available for OS holders
    3. Make underlying S available to OS holders as liquidity becomes available
  3. Wind down OS ARM
    1. Stop or pause new OS ARM deposits
    2. Withdraw idle S from lending venues
    3. Process any pending OS redemption exposure
    4. Allow ARM-WS-OS holders to withdraw or claim their pro-rata share of the ARM vault’s S-denominated assets
  4. Maintain UI exit support for two months
    1. Origin will keep in-app support for OS and OS ARM exits for at least two months after the wind-down exit flows are live and publicly communicated
    2. During this period, the UI will support redemptions, claims, withdrawals, notices, and user instructions
    3. Deposit, minting, incentive, and growth-oriented surfaces may be removed or disabled during this period
  5. Move support to documentation
    1. After the two-month UI support window, Origin may remove active Sonic product pages from the app
    2. Any remaining redemption or claim instructions may be moved to documentation and direct contract/explorer instructions

User Impact

OS holders should have a clear path to receive the underlying S backing OS.

OS ARM LPs should have a clear path to receive their pro-rata share of the OS ARM vault assets, denominated in S.
